Red Robin

Ok, so this is a basic cookie cutter restaurant, with burgers that are a step above McDonald's.  Seriously, they have been lacking over the past few years. When Red Robin first came to our area, roughly twenty years ago, they were amazing. Their prices were decent, their recipes and choice of burgers were exceptional, and their iconic decor was unique. Going to Red Robin for a nice lunch, hanging out with family and friends was always a feel good time.
But, recently, Red Robin just seems "Meh". About ten years ago, they came up with a sort of "value menu", with lower price, smaller burgers and this worked for awhile. People started to go back to Red Robin in droves. The smaller burgers tasted just as good as the larger burgers, and introduced new recipes for a new generation. They also offered other options for unlimited sides, including a side salad, or fresh broccoli, instead of fries. Or, for an up charge, one could order garlic fries or sweet potato fries. Gradually, they shrunk down the value menu to only three "value"burgers, and added an up charge for the side salad as well. In addition to this, their larger burger prices became astronomical.  Lunch for a family of four, on the average could cost roughly $72.00, not including beverages or tip.
The only bright side, is that many locations, for a limited time, are offering the "Yum Deal". This offer includes one of the remaining three value burgers, endless fries, and a soft drink, for $9.99, bringing that $72.00 down to $39.96, before tip.  However, you'll need to call your local Red Robin, as not all of the locations are "participating" in this promotion.
Looking at other factors, most of the time, the staff at Red Robin is wonderful. They are quick to take your order, come by often to refill your drinks, and fries, if desired, and are very friendly and cordial.
It doesn't look like Red Robin will be lowering their prices any time soon, but if you want to go for atmosphere, welcoming staff, and still have a good feel time, order the "Yum meal" while you still can.
